The Jeffrey Lasky Arts Invitational Weekend Northshore Congregation Israel, Glencoe, IL

We had thirty-five high school students and two and a half days to create Art based on Torah portions. Each year I worked with five students, these are some examples of the pieces we produced, all five worked together in a medium they had no experience in. For the 11 years I was on the faculty, this weekend was the highlight of the year for me. Working with these kids, listening to their thought processes and watching how they integrated their ideas into the framework for each weekend, gave me an appreciation of young minds that stood me well when I became a parent.

"Jerusalem Menorah"

36" wide x 20" tall x 18" deep

This piece has candle holders for Menorah, Hanukkiah, Shabbat and Havdallah.

The city looks alive with the shadows of the flames.
