"Foam Carving"

This is a fun class for older kids (middle school up) and adults. We use that pink home insulation foam and battery operated foam cutters to create all kinds of things. Frequently, I will ask participants to think of something small they'd like to make. Then I tell them that we will be making them larger than life. For example, one participant said he'd like to make an ant. The finished piece was 5' long with steel rods for legs! I have made party centerpieces using this technique as well as sculptures for trade shows showing candy pieces blown up to 4' in diameter (see TRADE SHOW SCULPTURES ).
